About the Role
Many of our most cherished natural assets have not changed for centuries. However, the same cannot be said of our organisation. We have successfully completed an ambitious and challenging transformation programme which has swept away traditional silo working and created a modern, agile, and change-orientated working culture supported by technology. But the challenges our District and Borough face are growing. Better connectivity, more affordable housing, and inclusive economic growth are issues our residents care passionately about.
So why should someone think about coming here? Aside from the obvious attractions of living in a wonderful natural environment, we think there is a chance for someone to continue our innovative and leading edge approach to delivering public services, create a step change in how we collaborate with our wide range of partners and, most importantly, help us to really engage with our communities and ensure their future wellbeing remains at the heart of what we do.
This role is likely to appeal to an experienced Director or Chief Executive. Someone who can think strategically about some of the big issues, but also act tactically to ensure robust plans and frameworks are in place to tackle them whilst ensuring our day to day services deliver for our communities.
We must work positively and collaboratively with a whole range of partners, as well as our communities, to solve some key challenges. It’s likely that you will have experience of working in a local authority or alongside as a close partner to help deliver positive outcomes. Importantly, you will have a strong commitment to South Hams and West Devon as a place and its community.
Preliminary interviews: week commencing 24th February Final Interviews: 16th and 17th March
