Are you ready for an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join the Service Leadership Team of one of the country’s biggest, dynamic and progressive Fire & Rescue Services?

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service (ECFRS) is seeking an appointment to the position of Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO). The successful applicant will be key in leading and promoting the strategic objectives of our organisational priorities and transformational plans. We are seeking a strategic thinker with an engaging personality and the ability to apply an innovative approach to meet the challenges of a dynamic and effective Fire and Rescue Service.

Through your proven ability to lead, you will work with the Service Leadership Team in supporting the Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive to provide strategic options for the Police Fire & Crime Commissioner, which ensure we attain our high standards across the Service to maintain and improve the safety of the 1.8 million residents of the County of Essex.

Experience of working within a multi-agency environment would be ideal. You will have an inclusive, management style and be able to take responsibility for strategic decisions regarding major and risk critical issues.

Indicative Timetable

Psychometric assessment for shortlisted candidates (online): Tuesday 30 November to Friday 3 December 2021

Assessment Centre and Selection days:  Either Wednesday 8 or Thursday 9 December 2021
This will include a planned presentation and panel interview. The planned presentation topic will be sent to shortlisted candidates ahead of the assessment day.
